Not all firearm actions are made the same. The bolt release was intentionally made to have a little flex to it and some play between the release and the trigger housing. This allows the user to make minor adjustments, so it fits their rifle perfectly. Adjust the bolt release to line up with the bolt catch by using a pair of narrow pliers and gently bending until it slots perfectly into the bolt catch notch. This may take several attempts, and usually the bolt release tab needs to be bent slightly inwards towards the rifle. Test that the bolt release fully engages the bolt catch and functions properly. The bolt release should be in contact with the bolt catch throughout the entire cycle and move without interference.
